Year 7 CAT Tests

Dear Parents/Carers,

I wanted to give you some information regarding the Year 7 CAT Tests and National Tests that will take place during the 15th-23rd of September . Cognitive Abilities Tests are marked assessments which we will use in school as one method to assess pupils' intelligence, developed abilities and academic potential. In addition to this we will also complete the National Tests and teachers will also do some baseline testing in class.  The testing will take place in the library supervised by Mrs. Thorn.  An information book has been attached to explain what the National Tests are and why we do them in school.

It would be useful for the students to bring headphones into school if they have them, they must not be Bluetooth.  We do have some available in school if need be.  Students will be given log in details which will be given to form tutors who will distribute them on the day of the test.

The CAT tests require no revision, but it would be useful if you could discuss with your child the importance of trying their best and using all the time available to complete them.  They will contribute towards determining targets and so it's important they are a true reflection of your child's academic potential.  National Test familiarisation assessments are available on your child's HwB account.  They can be used as a chance to practice and become familiar with the lay out of the tests.

If you have any questions, please contact myself or Mrs. Heaton.

Kind regards,

Mrs Walsh
